just picked me up an AR-50 at the local gun show for 2,500. now i need the bipod and all that shit, but for now im looking for some kind of gun case, i dont want to have to take the stock off and i want to be able to carry it like a back pack. if any body and help me out here it would be appreciated.

ok so what would be the best case to carry it in where i didnt have to take the stock. is their any carrying cases with shoulder straps?

You need to measure the over all length of the rifle. I believe the biggest case is the Pelican 1750. Don't think it will hold an AR50.
There may be longer cases. I'm just not sure.

ok thanks, one more question, do you know of a website that has some good deals on 50 cal surplus ammo? and what kind of accuracy should i expect with surplus ammo?

can anyybody tell me the diference between spotter tracers and regular tracers for the 50?

I will try my best to describe the difference, ]
Spot tracer I believe was used in a spotter rifle that was mounted to the 106 recoiless rifle. It had the same ballistics as the 106 round. It was used to "spot" where the 106 round would impact. It is a 826 grain bullet with a small primer in the tip that will flash/smoke on impact.
Regular tracer rounds are in the 650 grain area I'm not sure of the exact weight on this round. It was used I beleive linked 4 ball rounds to one tracer. Also most usgi 50 tracer traces red, the spot rounds trace bright white! hths, Again I'm no expert!

The remanufactured S/T rounds as sold by Talon/Ammoman etc... are really just the S/T projectiles loaded into std. .50bmg cases. The examples I've shot were appropriately loaded with ONLY 170gr of IMR5010 to keep the projos within their original design specs.

The actual (m-48) S/T cartridge is shorter than std .50bmg and was loaded with a different (faster) powder than that typically used for .50bmg rounds.

Both UltraLite50.com and Serbu.com offer rifles chambered for the M48. It's a "legal" chambering for the CA market as well.

ya a backpack to carry the gun, well shit when a guy goes hikin he can carry up to a 50 pound pack, whats the difference? all i need is some type of rig where i can walk around the huntin fields with it on my back, looks like im gonna have to make my own cause nobody else does.

The way the weight is distributed. Even if you remove the stock to shorten it they are a pain to carry. Look for a Eagle or Black Hawk drag bag with the carry straps. I fit a AR30 into one and I think there is a bigger size for a AR50. Also how much ammo are you going to carry along with you.
You might also want to look into a Biathlon type strap like Accuracy International makes for their rifles. I think they make one for their 50 cal.

Either way you must be a big guy to want to hike with that on your back

congrats, just got mine about a week ago, AR50 as well. for the bipod, monopod and replacement screws for the adj. buttpad, cheek piece and bolt retainer screw contact Darin, I believe he's known around these parts as dlprince, he has the good stuff. here is a pic of mine, just waiting for optics.

how much did them bipods cost you and where did you get them, how is the accuracy of the gun? i shot it today and i was suprised to have it kick like a hot 308 load, i figured it would be pretty rough.
