would the ferret lower work with other AR type uppers chambered in 50BMG, ie a friend has the the Ultra Mag, would it be able to slide on your lower?

Yes, the F-50 lower will work with all single shot uppers, provided that they use the same manner to attach the upper to the lower as with the AR. (two 1/4" takedown pins)
