The commies have passed their ban, so I must have a .50 just because. But, funds are limited. So, I thought perhaps I'd buy an AR lower now (DPMS single-shot: CA legal!), register it as a .50, then get a .50 upper ASAP.

I'm new to the big bore scene, so could someone let me know what is available in terms of AR lower .50s that can be bought as uppers only? Thanks!

Here are a few,

1. A.L.S. - I have one of these, I think they are great.

A.L.S.

2. MMag50 - Mark Serbu helped design this.

Mag-50

3. UltraMag50 - Mark Serbu also assisted in this design.

Ultra Mag50

4. Ferret50 - Nice looking, I think he also makes a steel lower receiver.

Ferret50

5. Watson's Weapons - Screw type bolt for upper receiver, you have to break open upper from lower receiver, then use special tool to unscrew bolt to chamber a round. Just on loading and unloading I think that the 4 choices above are a better choice.

Watsons Weapons

Good luck.

This one is just like the Ultramag but is a single shot bolt . www.ultralite50.com  I just ordered one this week. 18.5" fluted upper for $1350.00. I hae had an ALS upper and they were pretty awesome. I just wanted to try something different this time
