I have played around with this a lot. I my experience listed in order:
1. Longer gas system, yeah obvious.
2. Less gas (adjustable gas block, adjustable gas tube, etc.) Frankly less gas is always good, I don't own a gun that doesn't have some type of gas regulation on it. I usually run my guns just to the point where they wont run (Wont run Wolf without turning them up just a tad)
3. MGI RRB, Enidine works too but I had one go tits up on me so all I have left is the MGI which is still rolling after thousands. Really the biggest thing here is the weight but the fancy smancy moving bits help.
4. More weight in general. I hate adding weight but it works. Heavy buffers, Tubbs makes a carrier weight system.
5. Springs, Tubbs flat wire had the greatest effect while still reliable although it is a bitch to get these things in the buffer tube.
After this it's like 3-5 rpm difference if you really want to go nuts:
6. Pigtail or "chamber' type gas tubes.
7. LMT made an "enhanced" bolt carrier with greater venting. Not sure if they still make it.
A note on weight: I run the lightest system I can in my semi guns, you wont notice this unless you do the same but the cyclic rate and the effect of recoil on your aim is noticeable. Try it some time.
