I got notification the day before yesterday that the individual I am buying my Sendra M16 from got around to sending the Form 4 in the mail to the BATFE and I am in the mood to kill time for the next year or so while waiting for two Form 4s. While I am killing time, I figured it is now a good time to start to consider the configuration that my Sendra will be assembled into once I take possession.

Right now it is in A2 configuration and I'm thinking of going M4 SOCOM style, but I'd like to see some M16 pics! I don't think there is an official M16 photo thread, so this is also a good place to start one!

Let's see them!

Edit: Pic of mine.

One I had with the shrike:

Simple PSD with DIAS:

Another with the PSD and one with the AM15 upper:

DIAS in the jolly roger lower, I thought I had a better photo of it. I'll have to look for it.

It takes a bit for the x-fers, I'm going to be mailing out my check for my 2nd R/R, on Tuesday, it is going to take about 2 months to get it to my SOT and another 3 months for the x-fer from the SOT to me.

I am suprised at how many $10,000 M16 lowers have $500 stock plain jane A2 or CAR uppers on them. It seems to me if you can swing 10 large for a RR then you should have no prob dropping 1-2 more for Larue/DD/KAC/BCM goodness. What gives?

I just like my stuff the way it is, most of my AR's have Larue, DD aimpoint stuff on them. I do have a ACOG 1.5 on my LMG now.

I have a small pile of Colt DI uppers in various lengths.  The most expensive ran me just under $500 - most set me back about $300/per.

We're discussing RRs.  They are expensive b/c they have happy switches.  We buy them b/c we wish to use the happy switches.  So it makes sense to buy uppers for full-auto use.

Now FA is rough on barrels.  It doesn't matter whether the barrel comes from Model 1 or Noveske.  Heat accelerates wear like crazy - chrome or no-chrome.  Why spend $1000+ on an uber-cool piston upper that will not hit burning cars and tannerite sticks any better than will a $300 upper?  Why spend $1000 on an upper that will - 3k or so later - be a 12 MOA blaster.........unless I really baby it...........or just shoot semi-auto?  (see paragraph 2)

Yes, the expensive barrels are doubtless more accurate out of the gate.  How much more accurate is the $1000 upper vs the $300 upper when using steel-cased Russian .223........in full auto?

And as for ammo, if I'm going to shoot 2 cases of ammo in just one 24 hr period why would I spend $330/case when I can spend $200/case on steel that is every bit as reliable, in terms of function?  I'll pocket the $260, thanks..........or just shoot more.

most people arent building a gun to fight with, just a toy/investment.

i would never buy a complete upper from anywhere unless it was a piston setup.

Why spend 2K on an upper if your going to burn it up? thats what cheap ones are for.

And this is the internet if you hadn't figured out. Emotions are hard to read. So they make these cool little smiley faces so you can show that you are doing it.

And if you had read his whole post instead of just reading his title, you would have seen that he bought a M16, and is waiting for the transfer, so he thought he'd ask to see other set ups to give him ideas on what to do with his. Nothing scary about that.

I have all the parts to make another upper just like this one minus the M4s.  I also have the parts to make it a carbine with 10.5 and 14.5 uppers.

I just don't have the heart to change it to a carbine just yet.    Some day though

I use cheap  20" H-Bar  uppers for doing Beta Mag dumps

Gotta love this country.  Law Enforcement is exempt from unconstitutional NFA laws AND those citizen taxpayers whose rights are infringed, get to flip the bill for the post 86 firearm the citizen taxpayer could never legally own.  Makes your stomach turn.  Something has gotta change, quickly.

Always some begrudging person like you to come along and post a snide remark.  While I understand where your coming from and I would love for everyone on this forum, myself included, to be able to purchase a FA, I don't see it happening anytime soon.  That being said,  I'm out every night along with thousands of other officers across the country, trying to make our cities a better place for people like you to live.  Does it really irritate you that bad that we are allowed to carry something that you don't own or can run down to the LGS to purchase?  Since you nor I can buy a FA as a personal weapon should all LEO's be relegated to carrying only semis?  We might want to apply this good idea to the military too, let's take their FA's as well while were at it.

just my two cents, In the IDF 90% of all troops carry FA in the field, but are told never to use full auto in their colts.
