A friend of mine is looking for a book that encompasses all you want to know about the M16.  He wants to know the history, all the different models from the beginning up to the present.  Is there such a book currently available?

TIA ...

Tell him to come here.  No books allowed during summer months, it's a rule.

ETA:  I seem to recall seeing a book that looked like it might be what he is looking for in CTD or some similar catalog.  I'll check it out and post back if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Black Rifle 1 & 2. This forum is also an excellent source of information.

"Black Rifle" by Stevens and Ezell, pub by Collector Grade Publications
Redish brown cover with VN-era G.I. wearing camo and soft hat, holding an M-16
Published 2004.  Early history of AR-15/M16 up to the M-4

"Black Rifle II" by Bartocci, pub by Collector Grade Publications
Redish brown cover with helmeted G.I. (Marine?) carrying an M-4 with Aimpoint
Published 2004.  From the M-4 to the near present.

These books are a little pricey--about $60 ea. but well worth it for the content.
