Over 5 years ago (right after I bought my M16A1) I waffled on getting on the list for the $2495 Shrike upper... $1000 deposit: WTF?!  Well as time went by and the price rose, I felt I had f'ed up.  As the years dragged by, I quit thinking about it.

Then the PHX SAR Show came along when I got to fondle the real thing.  I could have bought a M16 carbine w/both uppers: stock & the Shrike for $20K.  Looking back on that, I felt I f'ed up yet again when I passed on it.  It sold later that day @ the show.

Fast forward 2 more years: The KNS Spade Grips.  I thought this was too wacky for words.  Then I saw the Delrin pintle mount adapter for the MG42 tripod... love was in the air.  I got a few ideas for how I would configure it:

I know it isn't everyone's idea of cool, but it's kinda like the black lab puppy that followed me home... I like it.

I am first going to buy an MG42 tripod, then: "Hellow KNS, do you take Amex?"

Doesn't MGI or someone make a quick change-barrel upper where the gas-tube and all are replaced easily????

Would fit in nicely .......

Found it .....

That plus a Shrike would be even cooler.

That is true, but until SHRIKEs are available at a gun store or in-stock, ready to order over the internet, I'm fine with the KNS setup.  Also, the Ares website says they aren't even taking orders or puting you on a waiting list.

Now throw an LM7 into the mix and you'll have a two-caliber, tripod-mounted, spade-grip weapons system.

Don't forget to get a XMG next for a belt fed 8mm upper.

Thanks, all good ideas.  The .22 is a must.  I just found the MG42 AA tripod for $99-$129, and ordered one.  Let the fun begin.

It has a great write-up & test of the KNS Spade Grip conversion for the M16.  Nasty gun pron "Centerfold" of the KNS/M16 being fired from a pintle mount that is attached to the trailer hitch of a Suburban.  Shooter is inside the SUV firing out the back (door IS open!).  Real GUN PRON!

The prices seems to be pretty good too.

For about $1000 you could get the spade grip, new upper, tripod and mount. All you need to get started. Hmmmm, need to talk to the wife, father's day should be just around the corner.
