I currently have my Osprey 45 attached to my Rossi Ranchhand SBR .44 magnum. I've been shooting .44 specials and they work great and are very quite.
My question is this...Is the 12" barrel long enough for me to shoot full power .44 magnum rounds out of it?  Attached File |

I wouldn't think a barrel of that length is going to be the determining factor. Since it isn't specifically rated for that round and it is only rated for subsonic in 300 BO, I would ask the manufacturer first. Having said that, I know you'll get a lot of opinions here shortly.

I don't think you should do that. Even the Octane doesn't have very good barrel length restrictions on .44 magnum from what I remember, and I think it's a stronger can than the Osprey.
Check with SilencerCo to be sure. |

Sico told me the Octane is rated for full power .44 magnum, in a minimum barrel length of 16".
The Octane baffles are steel; the Osprey is mostly aluminium. Subsonic loads with medium weight bullets are going to be more in the .44 special class, so you might have some leeway. I wouldn't fire a shot without calling them. Reeeally like that rifle. |

Should be OK, but it is going to be much louder than 44 spec.

I have an Octane 45K on my 1894 and when I called Silencerco, they said 16" was the minimum for .357 mag. |

Called Sico today.
.45 Octane and Osprey are both 16" minimum barrel for .44 magnum. Same with .357 magnum Both are 8" minimum for 300 blackout subsonic, but no supersonic for either one. No restrictions on 10mm. |
