There's not much available under 7" in length, unless you want to use a pistol rail (about 4-5" or so in length).

I would go with a Spike's/Seeking BAR, or similar rail in 7". The latch shouldn't be tucked into the rail too far, and the diameter is big enough that you should be able to reach it. You could run a longer rail if you want, over the can, but you'll need a pencil or dowel rod to hit the latch when removing.
