I was using the 3 prong AAC adapter for my
AR15...I was in the process of building another
308AR and bought a Brakeout compensator
and it came with color coded washers....

sorry to sound stupid guys but I am new to
Suppressors and I was wondering what they
are for and how they are used?????

They are shims to time the brake so that the ports are properly aligned.  You add the shims, different colors for different sizes, until they properly align the ports on the brake.

This it should have come with a list of the sizes for the color codes..

So where does it exactly go???
How do I know when the ports are aligned???
is its by trial and error???

thanks guys for the help guys...Ive had the brakeout for
awhile now but I was waiting for all the other parts
for  the build...

Goes between the barrel and the brake and the ports should be aligned to the sides so that the gas is directed outward.

So does it means I don't need a crush washer???

You NEVER use a crush washer on a suppressor mount.  Using one can cause a baffle strike.  Also, use Rocksett on the threads after degreasing.

This, after the brake is within specified torque numbers of course.

I have a muzzle brake on my older 308 and a 3 prong
flash hider on my AR15...both products from AAC
did not come with the washers when I got them.
I used crush washers on both rifles...Did I just
screw up???

My 308 fired 10 rounds subsonic rounds and 3
full load rounds with the suppressor...also fired
about 20 rounds of full factory ammo on a 10.3
barrel.

From what I just learned here  is that I need to take
off the crush washers on all my rifles since I got
them all set up to take the suppressor...........

Crush washers don't crush perfectly even and could cause a baffle strike.  They may be fine, but is it worth the chance?  It's up to you whether or not remove them, but I would.  If a shim kit was missing from a brake, contact AAC and have them ship you one.  Flashhiders do not come with the shims since there is no need to time them.

Thanks for the info guys...I just ordered
a bottle of rocksett...I am going to remove
the  muzzle brake on the older rifle and make
sure that I use the rocksett on both....

I guess I can leave the flash hider alone.
