Gemtech has been contacted so please let's hold off judgement until they have a chance to investigate. The can will be shipped out to them tomorrow.  This happened on the 2nd round fired, ammo is 158gr Fiocchi subsonic, no damage at all to the gun, I had shot about 100 rounds unsuppressed before, I did not see any casings that were damaged.  Not exactly sure what happened, but it's a pretty unsettling feeling to see you what's left of your silencer 20 yards down the range.  I'll update this thread once I hear back from Gemtech to see what could have possibly caused this.

Interesting to say the least.

The picture of the blast baffle indicates that this silencer has been fired at least 2,000 times, not twice.  Did you purchase this silencer new?  This silencer was manufactured in 2008, which indicates its about 4 years old.  Ammo discussion is not relevant until we get answers to the proceeding questions.

I can TiG weld Extremely well. a good weld would have held up.

Its just a bad weld that lasted a long time. since its a bad weld it should get fixed free. but what do I know...

It was the OP's 2nd round of that range trip, not the 2nd round overall through the can.

tube thickness is perfectly adequet for the can type and caliber. honestly, it looks to me like the tube had been overtorqued, or possibly slightly misaligned when torqued. as they say, an overtorqued bolt is a 1/2 broken bolt... the can finally failed where the tube had been stressed - the root of the last thread.

It is not welded.  The tube is a solid CNC turned component with threads.
