Fisher Enterprises makes a quick detach model that fits on the direct connect vortex . They work very well . Put over a thousand through mine the first month with no problems or baffle strikes . People will knock them but there are very few in civilian hands and most that knock them have never actually ever even seen one in person . The 7.62 can is very effective on a AR-15 and all you need to mount it is a direct connect vortex flash hider which is way cheaper than most fof the companies charge for theirs .

Yankee Hill has one. I found it and was asking about it in this thread. It's relatively inexpensive, and from everything I've heard is great. It will work on 7.62 and anything smaller with Yankee Hill's QD mounts. Sounds like the only downside is it's heavy at 28 ounces (but everyone says that's because it's built like a tank) and they're mounts/FHs are $75 each.
This is the one I'm eventually going to get when I get the funds. |

If you specifically want a muzzle brake, AAC has a new muzzle brake for their 762-SD. Ops Inc has them for their 12th Model (available in 7.62 caliber). As you already mentioned SureFire has them as well.
Frankly, I would advise not putting anything on there until you are ready to buy a can. It sounds like you have no idea what suppressor you want, so why pick a mount now just for the sake of getting a mount? Sounds like you should select the suppressor first. Just a thought. Take care, Mark |

SEI offers the DC Vortex flash hider and a DC Vortex California Compensator. Both accept the M14DC 0.30 Caliber Sound Suppressor. I gave our very own BookHound a DC Vortex California Compensator to evaluate some time ago...

So to summarize:
AAC has a 762SD for $850 retail, plus $125 retail flash hider mount. Surefire has a FA762K for somewhere around $1500+ retail, plus $125 flash hider mount. YHM has the Phantom for $695, flash hider included. Fischer Enterprises has a suppressor, but there's no contact information available, no website, and no pricing. Gemtech has the HVT for $875, bi-lock included. Does anyone have any experience with the Surefire FA762K? Thoughts or opinions? The AAC seems like a solid unit, but the Fischer is an unknown, the Gemtech is bulky and heavy, and I have a strange aversion to YHM Phantom flash hiders, so that's out as well. What am I missing here? |

i have yhm QD, but i wish i spent more $ and got the AAC or Surefire.

Does anyone know the specs on the Fisher can? Based on that picture, it looks significantly larger than the AAC.
Anyone have any first-hand experience with the Surefires? |

So in conclusion, the AAC can is really the best possible option. The Surefire is almost twice as expensive, the YHM is too heavy/bulky, same for the Gemtech, and the Smith is larger and heavier than I'd prefer. It would appear that the 762SD is the best choice available then.

I went with the 762SD and couldn't be happier. I use it on my SBR AR15s, my AR10, and a bolt gun. The extra length really isn't that bad either. With the can on my 10.5" upper, it is pretty much the same size as a 16". I was originally going to go with the YHM, but the difference in weight really made my mind up. It wasn't that much more expensive either. I highly recommend it!!
