That is the correct site for the A1. If you look, one leg will be marked with a number (300?, sorry it's been many years since I've had my A1) and is the long range leg. It is drilled at a different height to adjust for range.

One leg is marked with a 'L'. Use this aperture for zeroing at 25METERS (27yards 1 foot), and for shooting at 375M and beyond.
After zeroing you flip to the unmarked sight for a 250M zero. This assumes you have a 20" rifle - ranges are different for the carbine. As Jonnie pointed out both apertures are the same size. |

Yep, they are both the same size holes. The long distance aperture is marked with an "L".
