If you're an Alabama pistol permit possessor, and want to know what other states you can legally carry in, check out the Alabama Reciprocal Gun Law page at the Alabama Attorney General's web site.  It is a current and updated list of all states we have reciprocality with.

Thanks '40.
Three of my brothers still live in Alabama and I'll let them know.

OK to carry in Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi but too bad about Tennessee.

Thank you Alabama.  Utah will take just about anybody's CCW.  I wish all of the states were going with this idea.  Watch-Six

Finally! I was born in Alabama but live in Georgia. For years I have been able to carry legally in a bunch of states EXCEPT my home state.
Bout darn time!
Thanks for the heads up USPC40.

Visit www.packing.org for the low down on all 50 states and carry laws.

This site is a MUST visit if you carry.

The Tennessee situation is our fault--Alabama's laws are not "substantially similar" to ours, thus we are prevented by law from seeking reciprocity.

We're working on it though.

TN license is good in AL, are you sure it's not also the other way?

This is bad information!

The TN license is NOT good in Alabama, which has a "you recognize ours, we'll recognize yours" bit written into their law.

TN DOES NOT AND CANNOT recognize AL permits by law, due to a) the training requirement, and b) the age requirement, therefore THEY DO NOT AND CANNOT recognize ours.
