DUDE! thats SOOoo LAST WEEK! LOL Really though Tromix beat ya to that one a long time ago. I have never shot one only seen a few. People that have shot them complain of recoil alot. I tucked this one into my little file Called WHY??

Tromix quit making the 50AE, and the other companies that still do havent really made a well working 50AE yet. Now the one I bought from Tony is in .458SOCOM and it kicks ass! you can get one from www.teppojutsu.com for the same price as from Tromix, $865. I would highly recommend getting one!!

how much does a 50AE kick? Do they kick like a 308?? If you want to talk about kick try rem700 in 7mm magnum (or better yet, 300 win mag or 300 rem ultramag)

The .50 AE does not kick that bad. About like a 12 Ga. with birdhot loads. It is more like a shove than a "kick".
I just sent my upper to Tony for some final modifications. He is turning the barrel down and going with carbine hand guard. This will leave the gas block exposed, which I think will look very cool. It is the big round gas block that I think DPMS sells for their space guns. The .458 was not available when I bought mine. So now I'm thinking I need another one.  -elliott |

Brian02, that is my website. Didn't think anyone remembered the link... :):) I will be updating it over the next few weeks.I need to put better pictures of my Tromix on my website now that I have a nice digital camera. I have taken the Aimpoint off of the 50AE (put the aimpoint on the 9mm) and put a Leupold 6x on the Tromix. I also have a Tromix lower coming to me (yes, I got one of the few made), so I will have a complete Tromix 50AE rifle.
You dont want to put the 50AE upper in front of a true CAR stock, it WILL collapse it. The reason the 50AE Kicks, of has the feeling of being more severe then it is, is because there is not a nice rubber butt pad on it like a shotgun. Go fire an old shotgun that just has a steel but plate and you will get the same feeling. Glo1...I used to live in Louisiana and was part of a 250arce hunting lease. There were only 2 of the 15 stands that had shoots longer then 150yrds. half of the stands had shots less then 80yrds. This is a VERY effective game round for short range hunting. I have gotten deer and Hog with it. I also think it is a cool caliber and fun round in the AR. I dont have a 50BMG, so this is my Mini Cannon. |
