People who love the 1911 seem to be a breed apart in some respects. Having owned several pistols over the years I've found the 1911 is still the one I love to hold in my hand more than any other.

So, having said that, is there any sort of consensous amoung 1911 diehards regarding rifle choice? What does your choice of rifle have in common with your choice of the 1911?

Toss up between my AR-15 and my M1A.

Edited to add: I have always loved my first rifle, a pre-'64 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06.

I like the M1A also: time-tested, acurate, powerful, quality. Doesn't have all the bells and wistles and isn't the highest capacity thing out there, but it also feels "right" in my hand.

Not much of an AR-15 fan though, although my experience is limited.

If you love the 1911,you should get a M1.I like my AR's but when I touch off 8 30-06's and the clip flys out the top, things just seem right. Wood and steel just like God intended.

I'll second that choice of the M1. A solid, rugged battle rifle. Accurate enough, easy to strip down and maintain, and not a gun you have to pamper to keep running. And I do love the 1911, first gun I bought for myself and I have owned at least one ever since.

I really don't care for the AR15. I own several, shot them a lot and wasn't impressed. Ditto for the AK. I love shooting the following rifles: Lee Enfield, M1A, M1 Garand.

It is really a toss up for me between the Enfield and the M1A. But the M1A just seems.."magical" in my hands. And it inspires a great deal of confidence in me. Ditto for the M1 Garand.

i prefer any of the service arms it may have served with, (1)m1 garand, (2)m1917, (3)'03. it goes nicely with an ar15 too, but something in ww1 or ww2 just seems more "right".

steel and walnut, and history.

AR-15. The M-16 and the M1911A1 served side by side for over 20 years and can still be seen together on occasion. They still make a very good couple. I also own an M-1 and an M-14 clone. I like them as well but the AR-15 is my favorite.Well maybe it's the M-14, it's really hard to choose but my Remington Rand M1911A1 really is my favorite pistol no question about that.

Being a 1911 lover, I have to agree with the M1 and variants.... they're all such beautiful rifles... I also like the Lee Enfields. Wood and steel, beauty to me!

I don't HAVE an M1 or a Lee Enfield (had one, sporterized, it sucked so I sold it)... but I will... soon... oh yes... soon....

Count me in with another vote for the M1 Rifle. It can be used as a field expedient stretcher, step ladder, stake to suspend necessities such as plasma, club, and in a pinch a rifle. What more could you want?

Duh, the 1911A1 Carbine with a 16" barrel and shoulder stock.

With it I can out shoot my Mini-14!

M1A. Springfield Armory early model with all G.I. parts (except receiver, of course). Cleaned up trigger and few little things.
Steel and walnut. Brute power. I like the feel, the looks and even the smell.
