Picked up an AR-15 SP2 for $1100 w/ 1 30 rd mag.  On the end of the barrel is CMP 1:7.  Was the price good or just competitive?

Not bad.
Probably you have a 1 in 7 twist barrel.
Prepare to shoot heavier (longer) bullets.
(I learned this info (longer) from Troy and Forest !)

Probably you'll want to pick-up some 20-round mags.

Around here that would be a solid buy. Probably 2-3 hunderd bucks cheaper than what I have seen them going for at guns shows.
