No, there are Glock Factory mags that are drop free and some are non drop free. The drop free mags will pop completely out of the pistol when you hit the mag release buttom, whether they are loaded or not. I don't have any non drop frees, but I think they pop out about an inch and then you have to pull them out.
The non drop frees do not have the same stiffness, or whatever, in the liner so they kind of stick in the gun, while the drop frees should pop right out of the gun. I think Glock had more non drop frees originally because that style is more popular in Europe, but they switched over to drop free when Americans starting complaining that they wanted drop free mags.
The two kinds of mags look a little different. The drop frees have a square cut at the top of the mag where the rear of top round sits. Non Drop free have a round cut. The factory mags that came with your gun should be drop free if you purchased them recently.
The drop free hi cap mags seem to sell for more. But I think most of us are more comfortable with the drop free when reloading. I can't imagine having to reload under fire after having fired all 14 rounds of .45, but I would still cough out the extra money for drop frees for mags you are going to carry.
I guess there was a school of thought in Europe (Germany I think) that in a battle there would always be plenty of ammo around, but that mags would be scarce so the soldier would be encouraged to grab his mag and stick in a belt, pocket, etc., if it did not fall on the ground. However I think most people are taught to eject the mag and reload without trying to grab the mag and keep it, unless you are under cover, have time etc.
Those 21 mags are getting more and more expensive and rare. Look through the Gun List for people selling them. I think that the 21 did not come out far enough ahead of the 94 bill for there to be a lot of magazines for the 21 around. Great gun tho, if you can hunt and cough up the money for mags.
