How about a Remington 700 chambered in 223?

Well, this IS AR15.com. 400 yds is not difficult with the AR, so you might want to consider that. Also, you can get a new Bushmaster for around $800 (if you look).
However, if you want a bolt-action, the previous post about the Rem 700 in .223 isn't a bad choice at all. |

How about a .243? Load down for 'chucks or up for deer. With 80 gr. softpoints I imagine this would be fine 'yote medicine to 400+.
Rem 700 topped with a Weaver Grand Slam variable would be a tremendous, somewhat cost effective solution. |

Would the AR be accurate enough? If it is could I get one for under $700? What scope for the AR? (under $100) Thanks

I use an HBAR Colt with a Bushnell 6-18x scope as a groundhog exterminator. The rifle with heavy (75 gr Sierras) slugs is accurate out to 550-600 yards. |
