The first one is an AR-15 Colt Match Target version in 5.56 (nato) cal., 1/7 twist barrel, in new condition with a red dot scope.  $1200

The second is also a Colt AR-15 "Match Target Elite" version in a .223 cal. It has a heavy Bull Barrel(1/8 twist), competition pistol grip...it looks like a big weight attached to the bottom of the grip.
It has a flat top receiver with no scope.  And the forward grip is a round competition type(very nice quality). This rifle in brand new in the box. $1200

What is your opinion on how they are priced?

I'm strongly considering the 2nd rifle I mentioned above.

The guy selling these is a collector.  He  bought a fully auto MP-5 for $9000, I could have got him one for $4000, anyway he is trying to recoup some money by selling a couple of his pieces.

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the prices on the Colts, I would say they are in the ballpark. But where can you  get a transferable MP5 for $4000?? Thats low just for the sear.

The MP-5 I can get from a friend, and no it is not stolen.  It has all the goodies with it such as forward hand grip, 4 thirty round clips, carrying holster( the kind secret service use to conceal under their trench coats)...it has other stuff too but I can't recall it all at this moment.  I'm trying to talk him down to $3500. Can you believe he got it on a trade for an old Flint Lock rifle...he's a lucky son-of-a-gun.

Both price are on the low side.  I've got "NEW" Colts 6700C & 6601 for $1400 & $1300 respectively.  What are the model numbers, I may buy them.

That MP-5 sounds more like a SW-5 to me...

How can you tell what model # it is?  Is it stamped somewhere?
I'm seriously considering going and picking up the Nat'l Match Colt sometime this week.

What is an SW-5?  Why do you think it is that and not an MP-5?  What's the difference?

Because transferable MP5's sell for around $8-9K
and SW-5's are cheap imitations that sell for alot less. If it is in fact a legal HK MP5, I'd jump all over it for that price. Forget the AR's. You can sell the MP5 and buy 7 0r 8 preban AR's.

The Colt model # is stamped on the end of each rifle's box. I own a 6601 post ban. The used one you listed for $1200 is a bit overpriced, IMO. NIB Colts can be had for as little as $900 these days. Check out www.ky-imports.com. I can't remember if there's a hyphen in there or not. Keep shopping & you'll get a good price, it's a buyers market right now.

$1200 for a post-ban Match Target is way high!  You can buy pre-ban Colts here for around that much.  IMO, you should never pay more than a grand for any post-ban AR-15 (unless it's some super-duper target rifle), $800-900 is more reasonable.

You're kidding, right?

Colt postbans (which all mentioned here are) are worth $850-900 at most.

The HK MP-5 is an NFA select-fire weapon and goes for $8-9K.

For $4K, you are probably looking at an HK-94, which is the 16" semi-auto version of the MP-5.

Most MP-5's are made from an HK-94 ($4K) and a registered HK sear ($4.5K).

I had to make a correction on the model of the second Colt, it's a Match Target Elite model.
Is the price still high on that?

The Elite is probably worth about $1,000 and should have a one-piece scope-mount with it. $1,200 is a little high, but you don't see to many of for sale any more.

They are very accurate, probably as good as you can do with a factory gun.

Do a search and look in the "Colt" section in the "Industry Forum". They have some real good reviews.

I had a Colt Elite upper on a pre-ban SGW-OLY lower with a Jewel trigger and it was a real tack-driver. Had a Leupold 6.5-20x50 Vari-XIII on it to boot.

Of course like a dumb-ass, I traded it for something else.

Here's a link to the Colt information on it:
