A local gun shop has a WW2 reproduction of a Colt. It was supposedly made at the begining of 2001 in limited production and I guess it came from the Colt custom shop.
Anyone know anything about it????

Nick,
Colt made a 4,000 unit or so production run of 1911A1 pistols on series 70 frames. They were priced upwards of $800-1000. Some criticized the roll marks as not being completely WW2 accurate and the gun as being overpriced. The one I saw looked good. I agree that they were overpriced. If you go 1911Forum.com some owners posted pics of theirs, and they had a more in depth critique.HTH

I have one, I love it, It has the typical "O" frame and pre70 series slide, no collet bushing, Looks real cool. Real tight fit. 880 dollars,

WWII originals are available for that price if you look around a little.  They'll be a little more used, though.

Thanks for the info. The info is for a friend as all my guns are shooters and this seems to me to be a collectors. I don't see myself paying over $800 for a plain jane 45.
As a matter of fact I just ordered a Mil-Spec Sprinfield that I will customize to my tastes.
