I got a line on a 1917 Remington 4xxxxx serial no. Eddystone.

Tight muzzlw. slightly dark bore. Good cartouching, good wood, good metal ordnance stamp on barrel. looks correct, but maybe no ALL matching???

They are asking $400.

Anyone got a good price on this for me???? What's a good price????

Here's what she looks like:

I am thinking $350-$400 was the range on the last ones I've seen out here.

So that is about what I would expect to pay for a decent one.

In the Dec 20th issue of SGN, Page 104, Sarco had M1917's listed for $359.00.  "Good shootable bores, nice finish on wood and metal".  Sarco is also selling just the action for $135.00.

I would say $400 for one that you can inspect before purchase is a good deal.  Unlike Mausers, there is no inexpensive U.S. battle rifles to be had.  I mean, I have never seen a decent example of a 1903 or 1917 for under $200, like some of the foreign rifles I have been seeing.

Don't be like me and think about it to long........I have missed some really great deals by thinking them over.

There was more Model of 1917 rifles in the field then '03 Springfield’s. I have a Remmy 1917 the action is very strong and shoots very acurate however the cock on closing was one of the contributing factors to the demise of this beautiful rifle.
FWIW there is a retrofit kit out there that will make the bolt cock on open.
I paid $0 for mine. A friend just wanted the wrapped up in grease tape and cosmoline junk gun out of his attic.
Turns out it was in 99% condition when stripped.
