Ok, here's the deal. I'm trying to decide on a way to go about starting a gun a gun related home business on the side. The way I figure it, I can't lose. If I show a profit, great! If not, I can right any expenses off on taxes. So I've got a few questions for you guys.
First of all, from what I understand you have to have some kind of store front or such to hold an FFL. If I had a "showroom" and "office" in my house would that suffice? How about some kind of rented storage space? And what about hours? What kind of hours do you have to keep?
For you accountants, could I write off my FFL for a "home based business" even if I had to rent out some kind of place for a "storefront".
Now I've been arrested for a felony firearms violation before (Brandishing a Firearm), but the charges were dropped. Hell, I didn't even have to go to court since the case was so flimsy. Will this hamper my efforts?
How much does an FFL run these days?
Anyway, sorry for so many questions all at once, but I've got a bunch of them.
I'd love to try to make a little extra cash at something I enjoy, or at the very least have a good tax write off. Anybody got any ideas, suggestions?
