I've just bought an AR10A4 Carbine NIB from Armalite and about 300 rds of surplus ammo. I also stumbled on to a used Aimpoint 5000.

What else should I buy. It is ok if it is a bit over the $100.00.

How about a good cleaning kit with a dewey coated rod and a nice soft case to keep the rifle in??

Order some of the M193 ammo, as stated above.

When it gets to the house, and you find out that it's 5.56 and your AR-10 needs .308 (I assume), you can send the ammo to me...I can use it. heavy.gif

I say get some mags- you'll need them for the 300 rounds you have already!

I have to second idaho's Dewey cleaning kit.
Add 1 or 2 good manuals-USMC TM & Army FM
Get a good set of custom fitted hearing protectors(plugs)- about $25 and/or some hearing muffs.
Spend the rest on mags.

I also wondered about the recomendation to buy 223 ammo for an AR-10!

My suggestion is to buy yourself..........

A Quality Scope
Quality Rings
Quality Cleaning Equipment
Extra Mags
A Harris Bipod
Lots of Ammo
A KAC M5 RAS (I love the one on mine!)
Quality backup Sights

Oh yea, this will about double your investment and perhaps tripple it depending on the amount of mags and ammo you buy!
