The German Luger was originally chambered for the 7.62 Luger.

The Russian Tokarev was chambered for the 7.62 Tokarev.

And the Czech. CZ52 was made in the 7.62x25...same length case as the 7.62 Tok but loaded hotter...will shoot the Tok cartridge.

If you're looking for a pistol in 7.62x39...good luck.

Maybe the Thompson Contender single shot.

Maybe he is looking for a pistol chambered for 7.62x63mm (30/06).  I think there are some hunting pistols chambered for that round.  Or maybe he is looking for one chambered for 7.62x51mm.  I think there may be a hunting pistol in that caliber also.

There were also some pistols chambered for .30 cal Carbine? which is also 7.62x something.

I would love a pistol in the style of the Taurus Raging Bull/Hornet, chambered in 7.62X39!  That would ROCK!

Check out the Savage Striker.  It is a bolt-action hunting pistol and comes in .308 Winchester (7.62 X 51).  I took two whitetail deer with mine last season.

Lone Eagle by Magnum Research is made for 7.62x39, 5.56, even .308.

But it is a single shot pistol.

Don't forget the ORIGINAL auto-loading pistols;

The Bocharte(sp)Automatic Pistol
c.96 "Broomhandle" Mauser Military Pistol

both chambered for 7.62mm rounds

And, last but least, the 7.62x38N cartridge chambered in the 1895 Nagant "gas seal" revolver. These are available, and cheap as well.

BTW, SOG International has the CZ52 in 7.62x25 (cheap) and Tokarevs as well, www.southernohiogun.com/surplus_hand.html. The Cz52 is listed at $125, certainly an attractive price.

If you mean a 7.62x39 AK-style 'pistol', take a look at this...

EDITED to say that I don't know the manufacturer...sorry!
