I bought a cheapo Wally mart scope (BSA)last fall as a last minute replacement on one of my rifles. It actually turned out to be an ok scope for the price. Well I eventually noticed it had an illuminated reticule (duh) with 10 or so settings.

I think these may actually be illegal for hunting in NY so it may come off this year. I didn't see any great advantage to it last year. I played around with it in the early morning hours but did not take a shot with it turned on. I'm not sure of it's use since it makes the reticule lines show up very nicely but you can't see the target any better.

Any opinions on whether these are of any value?
