Hi:

Does anyone out there care to enlighten an M4-newbie?  I'm seeing reference to the "M4 feedramp cutout" in some old topics.

What does that mean?

Thanks,
SAB

The upper reciever has 2 slight cuts inline with the feed ramps, supposedly helps the bullet feed and reduces jams.

Thanks, JoshD!

Follow-up Questions:
Does the chamber end of the barrel also have a cut-out?

If so, do the barrel and receiver have to either both have the cut-out or neither have the cut-out in order to be compatible?

Thanks,
SAB

Troy:

Thanks for the excellent explanation (with visual aids, even).  Above and beyond the call of duty, for sure!
