I like SA 1911 pistols but I find them to be much less comfortable than my Kimbers, Colt, etc.  I noticed that SA 1911 pistols have more "flat" front strap compared to other 1911 makers design.  This "flat" front strap does not allow a smooth transition from the front strap to the grip stock when you grip the pistol.  Other 1911 makers use more rounded front strap and makes the transition to the grip stock much more smoother/comfortable in my hand.

$64 question is, why does SA use this design?

Good Question, Ive never fired an SA 1911. Then again, on my Colt I use a Hogue wraparound grip so it really doesn't matter anyway

I have no problem with it.
