What's the difference betwen a Sig P-228, and a 226?  Thanks, Andrew

originally 226 held 15 rounds 9mm and the 228 was more compact and only held 13.  the 226 was designed by making the 225 a double column magazine and the 228 is a entirely new design I belive.

The P228 is the compact version of the P226.  It is shorter in both height and length.  The P226 was made by turning the P220 (in 9mm) into a highcap for the M9 trials.  The P228 was made by turning the P225 into a highcap.

BTW, P226 mags will work in a P228, they just stick out about .25".  I carry my P228 with a 13-rounder and a P226 15-rounder as a backup.
