Pretty much why I roll my own.
49.0 grs. of IMR 4064 and Sierra 150 gr. Softpoints. This is usually listed as close to a starting load and produces 2750 fps., chorony'ed in my guns. That's right there in the M2 ball velocity department. |

Yes, it's been getting scarce for a long while now. Remember, the last time the military actively used .30-06 was in Garands issued in Vietnam (when M14s couldn't be produced quickly enough, and which lead to a one-time purchase, and later adoption of, the M16). That means that the cartridge hasn't been actively used in 35 years. And most of the ammo used then was made in the 40s and 50s. Given all that time, it's not surprising that there isn't much surplus left.

Smeghead, I'm fairly certain that the BAR comes in both .30-06 and .308.
