Gander mountain going out of business locally had it for $400. I bought it on principle alone. Its almost flawless...
I guess it was a limited run they made about 10 years ago?

Based on an online database I have found, it appears to be a SVR (Special Varmint Rifle)

".22-250 Rem. or .223 Rem. cal., features 22 in. free floating Kreiger barrel, 4 or 5 shot mag., black Monte Carlo composite stock with grey spider webbing, aluminum bedding block, Pachmayr Decelerator pad, 7 1/4 lbs. Mfg. 2003-2005."

Ill take that for $400

Yeah, I'm in the very jealous camp.  My guess is it's a 1/12 though, fwiw.  Not that that has to be a bad thing.

She is a beauty.

I emailed Weatherby and they said it was 1:12. I expected that anyway.

Would be interesting to see what that will stabilize.  I would think 60 grain vmaxes would......  And maybe 64 grain soft points?????  Not really sure though.

64 PowerPoint was meant for 12 twist. Not that I'll guarantee it.

Doesn't hornady have a 60 grain soft point?  I think black hills loads that.....   Oh man I'd be in hoggie heaven with that rifle there OP.

That is an awesome find.

I really like that mini Weatherby action.

Well I am glad this rifle is getting a warm reception by yall. I was at first totally iffy about it, but then I just became practical. I was like, well, its in a good caliber, and its a Mark V, and they are never cheap.

Then I brought it come, wiped it down, and realized it had a Kriger barrel as well. Not a bad purchase.

Now I just need some glass for it.

I guess I'm a "fudd" at heart.  I really don't like that term but to me there is something awesome about a bolt gun.  Couple that with a fun caliber to shoot, doesn't beat you up and everyone says they're just fun.  I've yet to own a .223 bolt gun so I'm living vicariously through you.

Here's something pretty wild, I got an email from CTD selling different bolt guns and Weatherby is still using a 1/14 on the Vanguard........  So be thankful yours is a 1/12.     1/14  just seems excessively slow.  I mean a 1/12 would still shoot 40-45 grain bullets OK I would think.....    Weird.

You got a scope lined up for this thing yet?

I've always had good luck with Black Hills blue box 52gr HP accuracy wise. It would be interesting to see what that rifle could do with that load and a nice scope on top. Nice snag there.

Definitely keep this going, or keep us posted.  I love how good of a deal you got on the gun.  About time somebody gets a good deal from Gander.  Only took them going out of business to do that.
