Saw this on youtube, and thought I would share. Last gun in the video seems to be the first to use the roller locks like the H&K G36 or MP5.

OP, i think you ment H&K g3/91 and mp5.  G35 uses a bolt like the AR15/M16

Tilting bolt that ejects casings to the 12 o-clock position, sounds like a VZ58 . I wonder if Jiri Cermak had influence from Mauser.

 It's possible, but it really is amazing how much the STG-44 changed the world of firearms.

I would have to say the requirements of the Eastern Front change the world of firearms. The Fedorov rifle never had a chance to prove itself and the STG44 almost had the same fate if it wasn't a classification change to sneak past Hitler. It never amazes me how bureaucratic B.S. of upper echelon never listens to the guys on ground.
