Hi guys!

Last weekend I was discussing with a friend what guns we would choose if we could only have five. (Kinda inspired by German gun laws, were you REALLY can only have five)

We pretty much had the same opinion with only minor differences which is as follows:

- SIG 550 (or AR15 but probably SIG 550 b/c of availability of parts and magazines and b/c of the training you have with the gun from the military) as main rifle
- SIG P226 with rail as main pistol
- H&K MP5-Clone if you need a more compact "main rifle"
- Remington 870 for home defense and because you just need a shotgun
- Ruger 10/22 for plinking

Then of course stack up on ammo, slam an Elcan Spectre on the 550 cause you got spare money from not being able to buy more guns

What would your choices be?

All good choices, except I'd replace the MP5 clone with a bolt action in .308 win.

Yeah we were discussing about that too. But I feel quite comfortable about using my SIG 550 long range, it's part of basic training to shoot irons at 300 meters.
With an Elcan Spectre or similar optic it should be quite easy. But about that I can only speculate.

Of course the stopping power with 5.56 is much less, but I feel I twould be more likely that I had to engage in CQC in a SHTF situation.

And of course i just freaking love the MP5

For the sake of the question, I'll assume I can't get one lower and eight uppers and call them "one gun"

1. AR15 with 20" CMMG .22 upper
2. AR15 with 20" A3 upper
3. AR10T
4. G19
4a.  I changed my mind, I'm getting a .22 conversion for this and not counting it.
5. AR10 A2 Carbine

I'll play:

1) Colt LE6920, 5.56mm (or other AR type of equal quality)
2) Savage MK II FV-SR, .22 LR (with threaded barrel for suppressor)
3) M1 Garand, .30-06 Springfield
4) Glock 17 RTF2, 9x19mm NATO
5) Ruger SP101 2 1/4" DAO, .357 Magnum

I think that would pretty well cover everything I need to do with firearms and all the ammunition is very common and available in the US (should that ever be an issue).

If I'm just me, living my normal life in this scenario, then 5" 1911, Glock 19, AR, Benelli M4, 700 in .308.  If it's an end of the world scenario, I would swap out one of the handguns for a spare AR and the Benelli for an 870, but the first list will work too if it came down to it.

XD9 service
Good quality AR carbine In 5.56 think standard like a 6920 ( or mini 14, m1a or dissipator with a2 stock depending on state)
Mossberg 500 12 gauge with couple of barrels
Marlin .22lr tube magazine fed semi auto
Ruger gunsight scout cabelas edition

If we are talking 5 guns which would take loads of paperwork to get and you would have a hard time repairing as in there is no brownells or midway anymore I would have to go with;

Glock 19
Quality ar maybe a ak ( or mini 14 or m1a depending on state)
Mossberg 500 12 gauge with a 590 metal trigger group and a couple of barrels
Marlin .22 lr tube fed semi auto
Savage scout from custom shop in stainless with hinged floor plate vs. The dbm ( I guess you could do that with a GSR as well)

With the pistols, and carbines/ rifles I would want about a dozen mags. if I was to have a scout with a dbm I would want at least six mags.

This is all hypothetical anyway but I would have to assume that if we could only have five guns we may be able to get small parts like springs and crap. Bigger components like stripped lowers, barrels etc may not be serialized but would be hard to get if you are not a smith.

I only have 5 right now, and I don't see a real need to buy more.

1) PS90
2) Five-seveN
3) SPAS-12
4) SLR-106UR
5) SLR-106FR

I've got almost enough spare parts to build a second SPAS-12, (need heatshield/pump grip) and enough spares to put together a working LAW-12. Two spare PS-90 lowers, with trigger packs, a 10.5 CMMMG barrel, and one 16.5 FN barrel with shroud and upper parts. I've got a complete 5-7 parts kit everything minus the frame, and the SLR rifles I'm working on getting spares for now but I do have 15 magazines and tons of external accessories.

Yes I'm comfortable with the shotgun, more so than any other shotgun available on the market. But I've had it since I was a teenager 15 years ago.

The only thing I really want now is maybe a really nice Tokarev to go with my AKs and maybe an SAS-12 to accompany my SPAS.

I understand Glocks and 1911s are the popular choice but there is no other fullsize handgun I'd carry.  As long as you train with it and use/carry proper ammo.
