I think Im going to go trade in my lightly used Remington 700 7mm rem mag CBL for a Remington 700 VTR .308 at a local gun store.

the rifle will be mostly used for deer hunting but will also be used for some range precision shooting as well.

anyone have any experience with these guns or have any comments or suggestions?

Saw one but didn't shoot it.

Looks nice enough and has gotten some good reviews.  .308 is a good trusty deer cartridge....and just about anything else that walks on 4 legs in North America.  If you wanted something with a tad more "oomph" that is definately good for all 4 legged creatures on this continent a .338 Federal or a perhaps one of the new RCM's (300 or 338).

A fine rifle and a fine cartridge.  Good choice.

Just don't spend $30 on a cheap scope and then wonder why it's not accurate.
