... for a buddy of mine.

He would like to buy new, so I was hoping somebody could point me in the direction of some vendors selling Mossbergs or Benelli Novas at a fair price.

Thanks.

Bud's

Their prices are delivered.

I've bought a couple of things form them, and recently ordered this one: Mossberg 930 Home Security

The imported Norinco 870's are top notch.  They're brought in under Interstate Arms (IAR) and called the Hawk 982.

Best $200 gun for the money right now, and EASILY on par with a Remington at better than twice the price. (if not 3 times)

IAR Hawk 982.  Find one.

18" barrel, 5+1 instead of the 4+1 of a factory express, compatible with all 870 aftermarket accessories with the exception of barrels, includes factory ghost ring sights that would cost as much as the damned gun itself if purchased separately, and fully machined extractor & ejector as opposed to the MIM'd one of the express.

ETA:  Buds is out of them at the moment but you can usually find them at Big 5 if you shop around.

Big 5 and some other stores sell the Mossberg 500 ga. combo.

It comes with a 28" ribbed barrel with three choke tubes and a 18.5" HD barrel .  Also comes with tupperware furniture.  No worries about thrashing the wood.

If I was looking to get an entry level shotgun, this is what I'd get.

Check the pawnshops for good, used shotguns.  Prices are negotiable, especially when buying with cash.

This.  The Mossberg combo is usually on sale at least once a month at Big 5 for $249.  Heck, this is the same combo I bought back in the early 90's for $199.

Edit: sorry just noticed the OP is in New York, and Big 5 is a western chain.  You could try Dick's, they have the same combo.

Get a Mossberg-Maverick, or a Norinco. They can be had for less than $200. I've got a Maverick 88, and it works great. Now I got a 590A1 so my Maverick is now just sitting there collecting dust.

I have $240 or so in the minty 20 gauge light contour magnum wingmaster on the far left, less in the two 12's, and WAY less in the 16 gauge that's next to the SxS. Got another 12 gauge magnum for $150 a while back(not in the picture though). All but one came from pawn shops.

I think the Maverick 88 starts at $200.  It is just a rebadged Mossberg 500.  There is also the NEF Pardner Pump but I am not sure how much it runs.

Dude, I'm talking about modern day retail, not pawn shop prices back when you could buy gas for under $1 a gallon...

NEF Pardner Pumps are also Norincos, just uglier.

If a Hawk 982 wasn't available, I still wouldn't pass up a pardner for $200.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I think the Hawk 982 would serve him nicely. Any idea where to get one however?

Big 5
Buds (have them email you when available)
Gunbroker
Local shops, call around and ask about cheap 12ga shotguns.  They probably won't recognize that they're Norincos but if you mention "Pardner Pump", "IAR", or "Hawk 982" you might get a bite.
