**Sorry, no pics as of yet, still working on that.**
I was at a party today and started talking to an older gentleman about guns. Seems his dad brought back from France (WWII) a rifle that, as his dad called it, was a "Gentlemans Brid Rifle". He said it is a sinlge shot rifle, (the way he described it, it sounded like carbine length), that takes a cartridge similar to a 9mm, but a little bit longer. The original cartridge was bird shot. No other info at this time... He was asking me if I might know anything about it. I asked him if there was any way to get a picture (or let me come take some pics), he said we could get together one day and get some pics of it. I tried google, but no luck. Anyone have any idea? It is a French single shot in 12mm made by Société Stéphanoise d'Armes. If you can post clear pix of the shell and any other markings on the weapon I can try to date it.

Those were the only markings on the entire gun (except for a #2 near the base of the barrel), and we had to remove the stock to see them. The shell had a "M" on the bottom, and that was it. He did say it was a rim fire. Apparently his dad fired off the last 15-20 paper shells before he died (1965), and this was the only one he had left. He said he had bought some new ones made by Fiochii, but there were all brass. Thanks so far, Gene |

Rimfire and no proofs really throws a monkey in the wrench. Is the barrel rifled or smooth? Will a .410 shell fit into the chamber?

I'lll call today about the rifling. A .410 would not fit in there, it's closer to a 9mm. The paper cartridge he had was rimfire, as there was no primer. Gene |

Would a 9x19 round fit in the breech tightly?
Does it look like there is an actual chamber at the breech or is it a straight shot through the barrel?? |

The shell pictured is unquestionably a 9mm rimfire.
Paper-case 9mm shotshell next to a metal-case of the same.  I believe the gun to be of French mfg. |
