[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Do you keep an inventory of your weapons on your computer?

Do you just do it in word/excel, or do you use another program? I did a search but it came up with no results.

I do a hard copy. I use the same forms that I use for my C&R, and follow the same writing procedures.

I keep a hard copy and some paper versions, but I dont think either are 100% up to date.

I also keep real and e-logs of ammo count, food supplies, rounds down range on my rifles, and mags for handguns and rifles.

No. I have a bound book, similar to my C&R record book, but for my non C&R guns only. I also have pictures of my firearms saved on my computer and other places, and I keep all of my firearm related receipts in a locked filing cabinet with my bound books.

You can either do it in Excell, Word or Office Works. I like the Work or Works since I can insert a pic with the SSN. I also print and keep hard copy in file. Good thing to do but most guys forget to update.

I am gonna start using excell! I have bill of sales scattered all over for my dozen long guns. I have only parted with about three rifles in the past 15 years but i am not sure where i kept the buyers info??? I need to get that all together in case the Po-Po inquires about a previous rifle. Also for fire/theft reasons I should have done this long ago. It would be a tiny file and I can email a copy to my office server for external safekeeping.

Glad I read this thread....gonna set up my list!

PS: I wonder what all of the conspiracy theorists & NWO kooks think about maintaining a list that the MIB could use to confiscate their SHTF weapons...

I use a table in word, complete with round count and a list of all aftermarket parts installed, as well as pictures.

I use an inventory program for my collection that is put out by "Blue Book Publications" called "Blue Book of Guns Inventory Software Program. I use a software program called 'Gunsafe' to inventory all my guns on the computer. It allows one to input purchase info, where bought, sold info, maintenace records and pictures. You can print out a hard copy to keep in the safe if needed. Great program. Hope this helps!

at one time i had a mySQL database with a PHP frontend that i made for a graduate school project... i kept pictures and pertinent information in there...

i tried gunsafe, but i think i might just make my own database in access...

if i do, i'll definitely post the mdb file for other people to use...

I maintain a spreadsheet in excel.
Maker, model, serial number, caliber, who I bought it from, and how much I paid for it.

Yeah, I definitely do. I keep track of guns, ammo, round downrange, rounds per month, # of failures, type of failures, when the carry ammo was last replaced, when springs were last replaced, etc.
