What makes this stuff so crappy?

please explain... I've never had a problem with FMJ .45 ammo

I've never had a problem with it--and used it in multiple calibers.  Brass is great for reloading, too.

OK...I'll play.

Out of the box, it looks like the loaded ammo was tumbled using driveway gravel as media.  But seriously, the longitudinal striations on the cases indicates that their sizing dies are fooked...do they lubricate them with sand???

Then there's the hugely inconsistent velocities.  Chrono these things sometime, and tell me what the SD is in one box.

Then there is the smell.  That powder smells like someone is burning a dog.  It burns about as cleanly as that, too.  I'm confident in stating that MagTech handgun ammo is about as smoky as my Encore using Triple 7.

There are better choices at this pricepoint.  But hey...if you want to run Mag-Tech out of your Taurus, it's no skin off of my nose, mang.  Some guys are into the whole South American metalurgy experiment.

Just shot some .308 magtech through my PTR91.  Had three failures.  never had any other problems with the rifle before now.

Edited for technical accuracy.

Smokey, stinky and dirty as hell. I won't shoot that crap in any of my gun/rifles.

I've fired .223 and .45 for plinking.  Got the job done.

I've fired thousands of rounds of Magtech in .45, 9mm, .38 .357 and a few hundred in 308. I have never had an issue.

Ive never used the 223, but have shot thousands of rounds of the .45, 9mm, .40, .38spl, .32S&W, and .380, and have NEVER had an issue. The brass is very good, and the ammo is much cleaner than WWB, especially in .45acp.

I have shot a couple thousand rounds of the 9mm and never had a problem. Was never dirty, smoky, or smelly. Is this a recent event indicating a lack of QC? I never tried the rifle, though now you have me curious...

I've shot thousands of rounds of it.  Great ammo, cheap and no complaints.

Same here minus the 308. My sigs, and glocks eat it up. I use it for steel matches.

When american eagle is the same price I might go back but not when there is several dollars difference

Shot 50 .45 rounds through range guns at the range today, worked perfect and was accurate enough for me.  I also have never had a problem with it.
The guy at the range said it would not void their guns' warranties from the manufacturer.
