That's actually cheap. Closed-cell foam is ALWAYS expensive (likely 2/3 of the production cost of the case), and if you get it anywhere else, it will need to be cut to fit your case, and that's not super easy either.
You can get open-cell foam for cheap, but that stuff's crap for gun cases. This comes up regularly, and in the end, everyone ends up getting it from a Pelican dealer instead of an outside source. -Troy |

I ordered foam for a starlight case from one of the dealers listed in toolbox AR Case page at Forest's site.
They didn't have the exact thickness I wanted, but the case still closes.  I don't recall how much it was, but it wasn't bad. ETA,Canal Rubber And they're in NYC ta boot. |
