I just bought a new 450 Marlin guide gun to be my new hog gun.  I was wondering if anyone has one. And what kind of scope do you use.  I was amazed that the recoil was not as bad as expected.  I like the open sites, but the radias is just too close together for longer shots.
Thank you for any help.

I don't have an answer for you except for one comment: Post a pic! I really like those Marlin lever actions.

Before you go for a scope, take a look at the Williams foolproof type rear sight with a Hi-Viz front sight. light, fast. jmo
edit to add,you will gain @8 to 10" of sight radias by going to peep sights.

Weaver V3 is a very nice scope for lever guns, 1-3x variable. I have one of these on a 357 Marlin.

The Tasco Titan is a great scope too, this is what I have on my Marlin 45-70. I have the 1-4.5x Titan, it's a 30mm scope so rings will cost a couple bucks more but it's a great scope.

Not a bad idea, I alway like peep sights. I mounted a Burris Short Mag 4x on one and liked it.

I have a couple of the Guide Guns, I have the Williams Aperature and orange Blade on one of them. I like it, it is very fast but not very precise. I am puting a Leupold VX 11 1x4 on the second gun. I have used this on my 50 BeoWulf and I really like it.

I have a Kahle's 1.4-4x30 scope on my Marlin 1895 45-70.  If you are going to scope a lever action, get a straight tube one.  They look good together.

What did you end up with for a scope?  My buddy has a .450 just like yours.

I have not made up my mind yet.  I'm going to use the open sights this weekend.  Between the rifle and ammo I've already got a grip of $$$$ into it.  Over a $ per pull of the trigger.  I need to put off some .223 to make me feel better.
