Am I wrong or since the AWban died did the pricetag of mini-14s shoot up a couple hundred bucks?

I was just browsing around thinking I'd like to pick a stainless oen up and put the folder on it A-team style but it looks like the price has jumped all to be damned....

Of course i hadn't looked at them for awhile (2002 actually) since i started buying ARs but am I wrong here?

folders have always been up there. I've seen the stocks alone go for $600.

Maybe they went up in price with the new front sight and the return of factory 20 round mags. I paid $525.-  for a new stainless one. Hey, I love stainless.

yeah i was looking at them right before the ban ended and then about a year after and i noticed a price jump.  but part of it i think has to do with the new sights and better stocks.  even more than that though i think it is due to the fact that ruger figured that the market would be opening up and they could charge more money for the rifle and still have people buy them.

Is this thread getting set to turn into a brawl about AR-15s vs. MINI-14? I hope not.

I like them both. Both are made in the USA

The 2005 Mini-14 is the "new and improved" version. Somewhat different from the old rifle, said to be made on new machinery. Main differences I can see are the shape of the reciever and the iron sights. Prices were raised accordingly.

It is.  They changed the GB when they changed the Mini-14.  The GB now has integrated scope mounts, the new sights, and have dropped the bayonet lug.

Like a true dickhead, I bought an old style LEO GB instead of waiting for a "new" GB....I was told civilian availibility would be non existant. The scope mounts, the sights plus improvements upon already decently accurate GB model would have been a smarter play, especially since the price would have been similar. I paid 775 with 4 Ruger 20's.....Oh well, I guess now I get to have two.
You will have to excuse me, but I owe someone a punch in the neck.......

I purchased a new Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle in the fall of 1999, if I remember correctly it was close to $500.00, in my opinion they have been expensive for several years.
