Quoted: The pistol kB's look bad enough... does anyone know what kind of injuries were done to the shooters in the rifle kB'S? -Hobbit

That was one of the bad Sakos. At least three in Oregon alone blew up, I think. That picture is from one in Canada and the shooter had some injuries on his right hand. There are tons of pics online of blown up Sakos from that one batch.
The Savage was a .300 Ultra Mag, that either had a way too hot load, was headspaced wrong, or both. The shooter was known to be careless with his reloads (so we suspect could be careless with his barrel switching technique too), was running a pretty hot load, switched to a Barnes bullet (I think) which builds more pressure, and couldn't positively identify what powder he was using
Was shooting at some outdoor benches with a shelter above, after the KB part of the reciever was dug out of the rafters the next day. No lost fingers.
The guy next to him (who took these pictures) got hit in the head with some flying metal but it was nothing serious. He did bleed though and said his ears rang for days.
