I want to get a 1911 45.    I am considering $375 for a used Springfield mil-spec or a new Rock island for $309.

I like both, and I am good pretty good with working with guns.  What is the better choice?

I may want to swap out parts in the future.

+1 on the Springfield.

I have a parkerized Milspec.  It's been 100% reliable.  I'm thinking someday I may sell it and get a stainless Milspec.

Price is good. Don't hold out or you might lose it.

A really long, long shot.  I wouldn't accept a Rock Island if it was given to me free of charge.

I have a Springfield that I use as a carry gun.  100% reliable with Wilson mags.
I shot a friends Rock Island that shot as reliably, but not as accurate.

Sorry if i'm biased, but i'd say get the best, get a Kimber, or a Para Ord.

Since your in colorado, you can buy a new mil spec for less than a hundred dollars more.  This may seems odd to spend a little more, but for the hundred bucks, you get a life time warrenty direct from SA if anything goes wrong with the pistol.

For the correct total price, pull off the shipping charge, then add $20 for the transfer fee when you pick the rifle up at their shop.
