I've seen MG34 and MG42 clones out there.  Why no StG44 clones?  I think there would be a real market out there. They could make it in 7.62by39, 223, or 6.8 SPC. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Why don't you front about $1 million to get the project off the ground?

While you're at it, tool up to produce semi-auto FG42's too.

Seriously, no parts sets are available and it is just cost-prohibitive. I'd love to have a semi MP44 as much as anybody but it'll never happen.

And what exactly would you chamber it in?

7.62x39mm would be the most practical, I imagine. Not to mention that after you shucked out all the money such a rifle would cost, Wolf ammo would be all you could afford.

Bit of a size difference between 7.92x33 and 7.62x39, so it wouldnt be an accurate looking replica in that case:

Yep, that's true; the thing would basically end up looking like...well, like an AK, pretty much. I suppose the proper ammo would have to be either custom-made or someone would have to make reloading equipment for it, and that would drive the price up even further.

Why?

For the same reason there are no Owen guns.

It could be cahmbered in 223 or 6.8 and use modified M16 mags.  I don't think a bigger mag well would be that big a deal.

Photoshoped 7.62x39
