I'm thinking about sending a pistol to Robar to be refinished with NP3.  Anybody have any experience with NP3?  Is it worth the $$$?

Pictures would be appreciated.

A friend of mine had a 1911 Robarized. It is slick. I don't mean looks slick. I mean nothing sticks to it. As far as I know the gun ran pretty good.

It is nice. I had a Berretta 92 done in it. Thinking of having a HiPower done next.

What did it cost for the Beretta?

I had a family member that had a Clark Custom Springfield .45 w/comp finished in NP3.  It was incredibly slick, wore very well, was fairly low profile in color and cleaned up like a charm.

If I liked silver pistols, I wouldnt hesitate to have one finished in NP3.

So it will turn my pistol silver?

Can anyone post some pictures...I can't tell much from the Robar.com website.

NP3 is nickle based, so of course it'll be silverish.

Did you think it was black?

Frame only on the 1911.

If you are thinking about a "dark finish" consider black chrome. Never seen one in person, but it sounds like the ticket.

I believe it was $275. I had it done about 6 or 7 years ago.

I am gonna be the one to take some flames for this but it needs to be said:

if you want your gun fucked up....send it to Robar.....

Do you think an alternative to Robar would be Tripp Cobra Chrome?  I've got a Beretta 92G slide done in that and it's magnificent.  Spray some brake cleaner on it and everything just liquifies and falls off.  You can wipe stuff off with a towell and really don't even need a solvent half the time.  MJD

No flames but an explanation would be greatly appreciated.
