I love the M14 but considering S.A. Inc.'s Q.C. woes, I'd go with the DSA

Kinda depends on what BANNED state you're talking about as well.  Like in cali, the M1A probably makes more sense if you purchased mags prior to BS23, since you could use those grandfathered mags in the rifle without fear of being a felon.  If the 10rnd., feed by stripper clip, gotta have a pistol grip is your thing, obviously the DSA.
