Fill it with that expanding foam stuff you can buy at a hardware store.

You can use almost any foam, just pack the stuff in there.
A more useful idea would be to pack the stock with an emergency cleaning kit, spare parts, any special tools you might need, and fill the voids with small baggies of cleaning patches. |

Too easy! Actually, I'm worried about the noise it would make as a branch drags across it while walking in the woods. Loud noise=no critters for a while. |

The spray foam insulation wil work well for you - just remember to get it "capped off" before the foam expands all the way...
