On the left is a NIB Springfield, Inc M1A. According to the serial number, the dealer had been sitting on it for about 2 years. TRW bolt, HRA oprod, SA barrel.  You can't hunt with a semi-auto rifle in PA, so with the Realtree MossyOak camo stock this rifle just sort of sat on the dealer's shelf.  Got it for $200 less than the cheapest price I could find for a current production M1A Standard. It's getting a Fred's Big Red birch stock

On the right is a very early (low 4 digit SN#) Polytech M-14S. With the mount and scope it was $600. It will become the recipient of a bunch of USGI parts I have sitting around, and depending on how it shoots, a new, medium weight, match barrel.  It's also getting a new stock and a home camo paint job (HD Krylon green and brown) just to see how it comes out.

Small gunshow; nice to find some stuff I was looking for.

National Guard Armory Show in Philadelphia put on by Appalacian Productions. They have them there about once a quarter.

Nice rifles. Let me get this straight though. You are changing the stock on the camo rifle to wood and the wood stock to camo?

Looks good.

Is the one on the right preban?  Why the fake FS?

I like the feel of the big wood stock, and the Realtree camo stock just feels cheesy to me (mainly because of the way the handguard rattles). The Chinese stock is some cheap softwood, so I'll be practicing my painting skills on it. I'll then decide whether it gets a better wood stock, or just put the synthetic stock on it.  I've got all these parts sitting here, I might as well use them.

Pre-94, post-89 Import ban, which took flash hiders away from imported EBRs.
