White gauze maybe?
White gaffers tape. Unless you leave it on for years or expose it to a lot of heat, it will come off without leaving a residue. |

What about surgical tape? Its a glossy white, but it will attract dirt so you can dull it out. Any adhesive left behind should remove with mineral spirits.

Lay the burlap flat, and with a thin-napped roller, lightly coated with paint, roll on the desired color.
The result, if done properly, will be primarily the paint color, but with some residual burlap background, thus giving a three-dimensional effect. |

I found white burlap at fabric store, although this does seem less effective than Raf's idea, which would leave a little residual brown to break up the silhouette. The burlap is also pretty flamable, I don't know if the rifle barrel would ignite it but I'm going to look for some spray on flame retardent material, I understand it is used in making ghillie suits. If I manage to start my rifle on fire I promise you will see it here first!
 I'll have to give some thought as to how to attach it and clear the handguard holes. I can just bowflage the barrel and front gas block with grey or white bowflage. I could still fleck the white burlap with some brown, I bet. |

Aimless I wouldn't worry about the flamability of the burlap unless your going to be shooting alot of FA.
I have used burlap for year both on my precision rifles and my AR's with no problems. It is cheap and it can be customized to the colors you are looking for. |

What about a couple of pieces of ol white socks. You could cut rings and stretch them over parts of your rifle, no residue.

Rip up an old bedsheet and tie strips to the rifle.
There's a wall covering that simulates burlap(used as a wall covering), it's called Tasso-glas. It comes in different sizes of mesh. Since it's fiberglass, it won't hold moisture like the burlap will. I've never tried to camo a rifle with it, so I don't know how it would work. |
