Okay, I have three uppers with me. 2 M4's and a 16"  All have their own bolt carrier group.  On the 16" upper when I turn it upside down the bolt always slides back.  On the other two the bolt doesnt move.  Is this normal?  Do I need to worry about it?  The 16" has been shot quite a bit (4000+) and the others I don't know about.

What say you?

Its loose, but probably OK...The weight of the carrier is enough to fall down and unlock the bolt.

If you keep it dirty, you will probably not have that problem.

Sound like the gas rings on your 16" upper have more wear than the ones in your M4 uppers.

Sgtar15, replace gas rings and lube them and yourself with Jim Beam. It'll be all-right tomorrow.

Consider it well worn in upper.  It probably feels smoother than your others.  The uppers that have been worn in with a few thousand+ rounds have always been the best for me.  Keep shooting it.
